It’s a wonderful time of the year! We are officially in the holiday season. There have been so many awesome YA novels this year, finding just a few to recommend as gifts for YA book lovers is too tough a call. Instead, here is my bookish holiday gift ideas buying guide for YA nerds.
If you’ve been holding out on getting yourself an e-reader, or you have a friend who resists e-books, now might be the best time to indulge. With rock bottom prices at Amazon and some shiny new Nook offerings at Barnes and Noble, it’s never been a better time to purchase an e-reader. The Kindle Paperwhite has a cult-like following because of its paperlike display. One of the best things about giving an e-reader is that there are tons of e-book deals out there. Just sign up for BookBub or daily newsletters on deeply discounted e-book deals from big name authors along with indie authors (like me). This holiday season, lure a skeptic onto the e-book dark side… or just upgrade your own device. And yes, of course you can still read and love and rep paper books.
Any fangirl or fanboy or just plain Tumblr addict in your life will love this novel. It’s about a college freshman and a recent college graduate who bond over shared fandoms and find their friendship becomes something more. I love this co-written novel because it is about being brave with your feelings and boldly facing down anxiety to meet your online friends in real life. Any friend of yours who can’t stop reading fanfic and obsessing over reblogging GIFs of her favorite fandom will enjoy this novel.
Have you seen Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on the big screen yet? Like any Potter fan, I am dying to go. At first, I was skeptical of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the theatrical script that was released in book form this summer. Many fans were wondering if reading a script would ever feel like reading a Harry Potter novel. Well, it delivered, which is why I have such high hopes for the screenplay of Fantastic Beasts. For any Potter fan who can’t get enough, give the gift of this latest Rowling-penned entry in the Potter universe.
There’s a coloring book for just about everything these days, but your friends and family might not be aware that there’s a vivid and fun Lunar Chronicles coloring book. If you’ve ever wondered what life is like in Marissa Meyer’s crazily inventive and downright magical Lunar Chronicles universe, this coloring book is the answer and a great choice when it comes to bookish holiday gift ideas!
